This webinar will focus on the Universal Design for Learning technologies built into the iPad that help make it an indispensable tool for providing access to curricula for all students. You’ll learn about features such as text to speech, screen reader, screen magnification, support for closed captioning, switch access and more.

About Luis Perez ...
As someone who has a visual disability, Luis Perez has experienced firsthand how technology can improve the lives of people with disabilities in a meaningful way. He shares his personal experience and expertise in the field of inclusive design as a consultant, speaker and author. He is the author of Mobile Learning for All: Supporting Accessibility with the iPad from Corwin Press, and his work has appeared in publications such as the Journal of Special Education Technology, Teaching Exceptional Children, Closing the Gap Solutions, THE Journal and The Loop Magazine. He earned his doctorate in special education from the University of South Florida, and in 2009, he was named an Apple Distinguished Educator. He is on the Advisory Board for the ADE program in the United States, and he serves on the board of ISTE’s Special Interest Group for Special Education Technology. The first SETSIG SOOC –
“Supporting UDL with Apps”

Perhaps you’ve heard of
? Well, SETSIG has developed its first SOOC - Short (& Supported) Open Online Course. Open to all, this asynchronous professional learning opportunity will include weekly real-time opportunities to converse with lead instructors Kendra Grant and Luis Perez.
There is no charge for this course (that's right, it's FREE). It is a professional learning service to our professional community.
To dig deep into Universal Design for Learning and discover how various popular online and mobile applications can support your instructional practice.
Design and Delivery:
The course runs for 4 weeks beginning February 1st. Each week, after viewing video resources, participants self-select from a variety of hands-on, practical tasks that, when completed, are shared with the instructors and other course participants.
Week One - Overview of UDL
Week Two - Engagement
Week Three - Representation
Week Four - Action and Expression
Badges and Certificates:
Participants will receive a badge for each week completed and a certificate of completion from SETSIG of ISTE upon completion of all four tasks.

Engagement and Success for All - UDL and the iPad
Filter through your list of apps to create a core that truly provide all your students with a successful experience in learning, communication and engagement using the iPad.
